Hope in the Hurting

"For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love."

Lamentations 3:31-32 NIV

Pain & hardship is guaranteed in this life, & I’m sure many of you have had your fair share of it. To those of you who are in the midst of a painful season, the best advice I can give you is to acknowledge your complete & utter dependence on Jesus & to abide in Him.

I’ve gone through many seasons that were filled with as much pain as they were lessons. I know how much the Lord taught me through them, but my heart has wrestled with seeking to understand why I needed to deal with repeated pain.

I know now how necessary suffering (of all kinds) is for us to realize our dependence on Jesus.

This is not to say I have it all together & I’m doing everything right, I don’t. There has been so much healing and prayer over the last several years to get me to this point, & I’m not even fully there.

I also can’t say that I leap for joy every time I feel pain (far from it) but I, along with the family & friends the Lord has surrounded me with, continually remind myself of my need to abide in Jesus.

Only HE can be my joy, not the treasures of the world.

Only JESUS can satisfy my soul, not any other person

Only in HIM can I find purpose & rest, not in any earthly comforts.

This is something I struggle with daily, but I want to encourage you to struggle with me. Keep moving forward towards Jesus whether you’re crawling, stumbling, walking, or running,

don’t. stop. moving.

The good thing about pain is that it’s temporary & is NOTHING in comparison to the treasures in store for us in eternity with Christ. Your pain is not forever, but Jesus is. Not only that, but every season of hurt the Lord is USING to equip you, strengthen you, refine you, & mold you into the image of His Son. How beautiful is that?!

& you NEVER have to go through these seasons alone.

ABIDE in His love & be filled by Him. Acknowledge your dependence on Him & let yourself fully depend on Him. Let Him be your anchor & your cornerstone.

You can do it friend, remember Jesus’ suffering & let that carry you through. You are loved & you are never alone. There is hope in the hurting. 🤍
